A champion for a better future in Madawaska–Restigouche
Guillaume spent his childhood in Kedgwick. During his post-secondary studies, he became a key figure in the New Brunswick movement opposing the employment insurance reform introduced by Stephen Harper’s government. He also became involved in the defence of the French language, serving as the president of a local chapter of the Société de l’Acadie du Nouveau-Brunswick.
After earning a bachelor’s degree from the Université de Moncton, Guillaume moved to Ottawa to pursue a master’s degree and doctoral studies in political science. He remained very attached to his native region and decided to move back there in 2020 with his wife Stéphanie. Guillaume has been a municipal councillor in Kedgwick since 2021.
Professionally, Guillaume works as an associate researcher at a specialized consulting firm. His area of expertise is the Canadian Francophonie. He has carried out projects for the federal and provincial governments as well as community organizations across the country. He was also a columnist for Francopresse, and his articles on federal politics were regularly reprinted by French-language newspapers throughout the country.
Guillaume’s path has been marked by personal tragedy. In 2023, his wife passed away from cancer at the age of 34.
Steadfast in his dedication to his community, Guillaume is now running to become the next liberal Member of Parliament for Madawaska–Restigouche. His priorities include fostering rural development, strengthening French-speaking communities and improving access to affordable housing.
